Steel Wire Rope for Lifting Boxed Cargo
Classification:
Product Introduction
In the scenario of lifting cargo boxes, the selection, use and maintenance of wire ropes are directly related to the safety of the operation. Use Scenarios: Hoisting machinery: tower crane, truck crane, crane, etc.

Connection and Fixing Requirements
Rope Clamp Connection (most commonly used):
Number of Rope Clamps: 3 for diameters ≤ 10 mm, 4 for diameters 10-20 mm, and 5 for diameters 20-26 mm (according to GB/T 5976-2006).
Installation Specifications: Attach the U-bolt to the short rope (end), with the rope clamps spaced 6-7 times the rope diameter apart. Tighten until the wire rope is slightly deformed (avoid over tightening to damage the wire).
Other Connection Methods:
For critical applications, a braided connection (braid length ≥ 15 rope diameters and ≥ 300 mm) or a wedge joint (requires a dedicated wedge sleeve).
III. Usage and Maintenance Taboos
Improper Operations Strictly Prohibited:
Do not overload or lift at an angle (to prevent lateral forces on the wire rope that could cause breakage);
Avoid sudden starting/braking (impact loads may exceed the safety factor);
Lift the cargo box steadily to prevent shaking that could cause the wire rope to rub against the corners of the box (protective padding may be used). Regular Inspection (full inspection before each use and weekly):
Broken Wire: If more than 10% of the wires within a lay length are broken (e.g., a 6×37 rope with 37 strands and 222 strands total has ≥22 broken wires), the rope must be scrapped.
Wear/Rust: If the diameter decreases by ≥10%, or if there is severe surface rust (pitting or peeling of the wire), the rope must be scrapped.
Deformation: If any structural damage such as kinks, twists, loose strands, or wire extrusion occurs, the rope must be removed from service immediately.
Daily Maintenance:
Regularly apply special wire rope grease (once every three months, or once a month in humid environments) to reduce wear and rust.
Store in a dry and ventilated area, away from acids, alkalis, and sharp objects. Avoid squeezing and deformation during coiling.
